This is such a great time of year.  The heat is gone, the farm is in full bloom, and there are so many fun things going on.  Here are a few tidbits I wanted to share…

First, just a little reminder that the first Eating with the Seasons cooking demonstration will be at the Old Town Scottsdale Market this Saturday from 10:30-11:15am.  Chef Chuck Wiley from the Hotel Valley Ho’s Cafe Zuzu will be featuring apples from McClendon’s Select.  If you have had the opportunity to dine at Cafe Zuzu, then you know Chef Wiley will be doing something unique and delicious.  I can’t wait to find out what he is making.  To make your reservation for the class, you can go to www.sotfm.com.

Also this weekend, the Arizona Wine Growers are having the “Festival at the Farm” at Quiessence.  There is a dinner Friday evening, followed by a wine tasting, picnic lunch, live auction and wine seminar on Saturday.  Arizona wineries are creating some really interesting wines right now and this should be a great event.  For more information, you can go to www.azwinefestivalatthefarm.com or call 480.306.5623.

For you True Food lovers, you will be thrilled to know that Fox Restaurants is opening their second True Food Kitchens in the Valley.  True Food Kitchen Scottsdale is opening on November 15th in the Scottsdale Quarter, across from Kierland.  It is nice to see more of a good thing!

We also just got a peek of the holiday menus that Chef John Sharpe has posted for The Turquoise Room up in Winslow.  He has put together some amazing menus for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Eve.  Check out what he is making at  www.theturquoiseroom.net.  If you would rather avoid spending all day in your kitchen this holiday season, Chef Sharpe is making a good case for taking a drive instead.

And finally, I am long overdue in sending a little blog love to Matt and Erenia Pool of Matt’s Big Breakfast and Roosevelt Tavern.  The Pools opened Giant Coffee this past summer and now officially own the trifecta of cool in downtown Phoenix.  The interior is very sleek and inviting and makes you want to sit there with a laptop all day long and camp out, and it is all the better now that it is nice enough outside for the large sliding doors to stay open.  For those of you who are purists and take your coffee black (like you Dad), he has an express line so you don’t have to get caught waiting while someone orders a double shot, half-caf, no foam, extra hot latte. Matt really did think of everything.
