Organic Medjool Dates…
We have just completed the harvest of our organic Medjool Dates, one of the most labor intensive crops that we grow. Medjool dates have been long considered the king of all dates because of their size, flavor and melt-in-your-mouth skin. Their growing cycle is one that has to be carefully tended to over the course of months. We begin by hand pollinating them in March. They are then thinned in June and bagged in July with nylon mesh bags to protect them from birds. We then harvest them twice a week by shaking the bags, and then repositioning the bags, so as to not lose any. It is a long process, but well worth it in the end.
We will be back at the Uptown Wednesday market tomorrow with organic Medjool Dates and so much more. See you tomorrow at the market!
