McClendon's Select

This week at the markets we will have the first of the fall season Organic Sweet Corn.  I had some for dinner last night and it is wonderful.  They just need a minute or two in boiling water and then they are ready to serve.  The Organic Sweet Corn never lasts long at the market, so make sure to get there early.

As well, Mary will be sampling Rosa Lynn and Fuji organic apples this week at both the Uptown  and the Old Town Scottsdale markets.  These apples are perfect for fall baking or to send in school lunch boxes.

We will also have Organic Burr Gherkin cucumber pickles that have just been jarred for us by Cotton Country.  They are some of the best pickles you will ever taste.

Starting tomorrow McClendon’s Select will be back at the Old Town Scottsdale Farmers Market.  We are excited to be back to our regular market schedule.  Tomorrow we will have all of your favorites with us too.  There will be an assortment of organic bell peppers, Shishitos, Medjool dates, Chanterelle Mushrooms, wonderful organic pomegranates, organic winter squashes, including Butterkins, as well as a variety of beans and lentils, baby greens, honey, and quinoa.

And for our Uptown shoppers, John’s Amish Country will continue to bring McClendon’s Select produce to the Saturday Uptown markets throughout the season.

This week McClendon’s Select is back to our full farmers’ market schedule.  We had a great start to the season last week at Uptown, and this week we will be returning to Old Town Scottsdale on Saturday.  With the markets back in full swing both farms are beautiful right now and bursting with all sorts of veggies coming into season.  I went out to our Goodyear farm this morning for a preview of what is to come.  Here is a peek…

Tomorrow at our Wednesday Uptown market we will have a nice selection of beautiful organic strawberries, a large assortment of winter squashes, including market favorite Sugar Pie pumpkins, and all of your favorite organic greens including baby salad mix, baby spinach and fresh arugula.  There will be several types of fresh fingerling potatoes, including Red Thumb, Purple Peru and La Ratte.  And we just received the first of the season Chanterelles from our mushroom harvesters in Oregon.

Plus, starting tomorrow we will have roasted butternut squash with maple syrup and cinnamon being sampled at the market by my mother, Mary Keegan.  Make sure to stop by!

After a warm and productive summer, McClendon’s Select is ready to return to the farmers’ markets.  We have been busy in both Peoria and Goodyear with fall planting the past few weeks.  Above is our green house with thousands of tiny plants waiting to be transplanted into the fields.  Sean has been up and in the fields at 2:00am with his transplanter and a crew from the farm making sure that all of the plants can get into the ground and be properly watered before the sun comes up and the heat rises.

We are excited to return to the markets starting next Wednesday, October 5th at the Uptown Farmers’ market and on the following week we will begin back at the Old Town Scottsdale Farmers’ market on Saturday, October 15th.  John’s Amish Country will continue to have our produce at the Uptown Market on Saturdays as he has throughout the summer.  Once again, Noble Bread will be joining us at the markets with their incredible assortment of breads, muffins and other goodies.  We look forward to seeing everyone and hope you had a great summer!

Tomorrow is our last Wednesday market of the season at the Uptown Farmers Market.  We will be bringing some beautiful summer items including organic sweet corn, seedless watermelons and mixed sweet peppers.  Noble Bread will be joining us with lots of fresh baked Organic Artisan bread.

The Uptown Wednesday market is closing for the summer, but will reopen on Wednesday, October 5th.  Until then, the Uptown Saturday market will still be open and inside Building B, to help you escape the heat.  Our produce will be sold at the Uptown Saturday markets by John’s Amish Country.  Please visit him and the other Uptown vendors on Saturdays this summer.

We thank you all for your continued support of our farm.  This family farm has been able to grow and thrive throughout the years because of all of your support and we are so very grateful.  We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow and hope you have a great rest of your summer!

The forecast for this weekend is a blistering 112-degrees, but good news, the Uptown Farmers’ Market is moving indoors.  Starting this Saturday and for the rest of the summer, you can shop in air conditioned comfort while buying your veggies and market staples from the vendors at Uptown.  John’s Amish Country will have a large selection of McClendon’s Select organic fruits and vegetables.  Come join him and the rest of the market INSIDE at the North Phoenix Baptist Church on Central and Bethany Home Road from 8:00am to noon.  A/C on a hot day… can’t ask for more than that!

McClendon’s Select will not be at the Old Town Scottsdale Farmers’ Market tomorrow. We will return to Scottsdale in October. But not to worry, you can still do your Saturday shopping for our organic produce at the Uptown Farmers’ Market at Central and Bethany Home Road. The Uptown Market is located on the grounds of the North Phoenix Baptist Church. John’s Amish Country will be bringing our produce for your selection from 8:00am to noon tomorrow and every Saturday throughout the summer. Noble Bread will also be at Uptown providing your favorite artisan bread baked with organic ingredients.

Even better, in June the Uptown Saturday market will be moved indoors so you may shop in cool air conditioned comfort! The indoor move will also include all of your favorite Uptown Saturday vendors so you can enjoy the full market experience.

John’s Amish will have a wonderful assortment on Saturday, including a large assortment of fresh salad greens, mini Persian cucumbers, large Beefsteak tomatoes, lots of zucchini squash, freshly harvested red and gold beets, and beautiful baby spinach, just to name a few. He also always carries a variety of McClendon’s Select honey and soaps, along with beans and lentils, pecans, quinoa, popcorn, mushrooms, and Medjool dates. We are so glad that John’s Amish has been working with us now to offer our produce on Saturdays during the summer months for the second year at Uptown.
