New Uptown Hours…

Starting with tomorrow’s market on Wednesday, May 4th, the Uptown Farmers’ Market is changing to its summer hours and will run from 8:00am to noon. This applies to both the Wednesday and Saturday markets. All the more reason to get there early and enjoy the morning weather and stock up. We will have all sorts of beautiful organic items with us for your Mother’s Day brunch or your Cinco de Mayo celebration including freshly picked greens, a selection of chilis and peppers, plenty of avocados, gold, red and white beets, and an assortment of different colors of carrots and chard.
And, if you haven’t bought a bottle yet, we will have Rising Hy Honey Mustard Sauce made in Flagstaff. This has become a new staple in my house, perfect to mix into a light salad dressing or wonderful on roasted chicken. Grab a bottle if you haven’t already!
Easter Weekend…

McClendon’s Select will be at the Old Town Farmers’ Market tomorrow with a huge selection for your Easter brunch. There will be a rainbow of colors from the farm to liven up your table. We will have a beautiful organic strawberries, a wonderful selection of fresh greens including baby spinach, baby lettuces, arugula, kales and chards, and medium-sized bunches of beets with gorgeous tops in red, gold, white and striped.
And, also good news, we checked and there will not be a home spring training game at the Scottsdale Stadium, meaning that the parking will be much easier than some of the previous weekends.
Come early and enjoy the gorgeous weather – and have a great weekend! See you tomorrow!
No Scottsdale Market this week
There will be no Old Town Farmers Market tomorrow in Scottsdale. Due to the Parada del Sol parade the City of Scottsdale has closed the market this weekend. John’s Amish Country will be selling McClendon’s Select produce at the Uptown Saturday Market at the North Phoenix Baptist Church off of Central Avenue and Bethany Home Road from 8:00am – 1:00pm. You will also be able to find Noble Bread at the Uptown Saturday market as well.
We will be back to our normal market schedule next week. Have a good weekend and Happy Valentine’s Day!
The Farmer’s Table

Quiessence at The Farm at South Mountain is presenting “The Farmer’s Table” dinner on Sunday, February 28th for a farm-to-table celebration of Arizona’s bounty. The evening will include a five course menu from Chef Dustin Christofolo featuring proteins from Two Wash Ranch and produce from McClendon’s Select paired with Arizona wines. Chef Christofolo wanted to present the beautiful items we grow and give those attending a chance to talk with the farmers and learn more about the seasonal items prepared. We will be attending along with two of our favorite people, Dave Jordan and Nikki Buchanan, from Two Wash Ranch.
If you have not yet had a chance to visit Quiessence, this would be a perfect opportunity. Long heralded as one of the most romantic restaurants in the Valley, Quiessence is a quiet respite far removed from the louder tempos of the city. Nestled in a pecan grove near South Mountain, a visit to Quiessence feels like you have been transported. The restaurant was formerly a farm house from the 1920s that has kept its historic Arizona charm while offering world-class dining. Sean and I have celebrated anniversaries there and can attest that it is the perfect setting for a special occasion.
McClendon’s Select is honored to be part of Quiessence’s “The Farmer’s Table” and hope that you will be able to join us. The evening will begin with hors d’oeuvres during sunset at 5:30pm with the five course dinner to follow at 6:00pm. For more details about the event and a preview of the evening’s menu, you may visit Quiessence’s website here. Reservations are limited, to reserve your seats please call 602.276.0601.

Back to the markets…

McClendon’s Select is back to our normal market schedule this week. We will be back at Uptown tomorrow morning and at the Old Town Scottsdale market on Saturday. We are bringing truckloads with us to help you make good on those clean eating New Year’s resolutions. There will be beautiful, organic broccolini that have stems that taste as good as the florets. The organic spring garlic is a very mild, fresh garlic that can be used in a number of ways from raw to roasted. We will also have all sorts of beautiful fresh picked greens and plenty of citrus right from the trees.
Happy New Year to you and yours!

Merry Christmas!

McClendon’s Select will be at the Uptown Wednesday farmers’ market tomorrow morning with everything you need for your holiday cooking. We will be bringing a huge selection and Noble Bread will be with us as well, so make sure to stop by and stock up on any breakfast pastries you may need too.
The Old Town Scottsdale market will be closed this Saturday, but we will return to our normal market schedule next week.
We will also have the Boy Scouts with us for Boy Scout Carry Out tomorrow to raise money for Aidan McClendon’s Eagle Scout project. We have had two wonderful Saturdays with the scouts helping customers in Scottsdale and they are excited to come to the Uptown market. Aidan has been so grateful for all of the support and it has been fun having the scouts with us at the markets. So if you are loaded up with everything you need for your holiday cooking tomorrow have a scout help you out. They are ready to work!
We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow and we wish you all a very Merry Christmas!

Uptown this Wednesday!

McClendon’s Select is so very grateful for all of our loyal market customers and the wonderful restaurants that have supported us through out the year. Thanksgiving is a special time for us since it is a day about sharing food with those you love the most. It speaks to the heart of what we do and we are grateful to be a part of so many Thanksgiving dinners.
Tomorrow McClendon’s Select will be at Uptown Wednesday market bright and early opening at 8:00am with everything you need for your Thanksgiving dinner. There will be a full selection of potatoes, yams, squash, greens, carrots and cranberries, along with so much more, including beautiful herb bundles Marsha has put together to help with your cooking. We are also bringing freshly harvested Extra Fancy Jumbo Organic Medjool Dates, which have become a favorite snack around here. They are so sweet – and would make a nice addition to a cheese plate or appetizer before your meal.

Make sure to come early. If you have been to our market before Thanksgiving before then you know that it is one of our busiest.
We will not be at the Old Town Scottsdale Farmer’s Market this Saturday, November 28th in order to allow our employees to enjoy time with their own families; however, the market will still be open and we hope that you visit and support the vendors while out doing your holiday shopping. We will return to the Old Town market on Saturday, December 5th.
We would like to wish all of our customers a truly wonderful Thanksgiving and to say a sincere thank you for your continued support.
Happy Thanksgiving!
The McClendon Family
