McClendon's Select

Tomorrow at the Uptown Saturday Farmers Market there will be these beautiful organic yellow watermelon.  These are so sweet and delicious, and most have few to no seeds. You have to try them.  John’s Amish Country will be bringing these along with a beautiful selection of heirloom tomatoes and organic sweet corn, everything you need for a colorful summer spread.

And good news… the Uptown Saturday Farmers Market will be moving indoors tomorrow.  Just in time to avoid the heatwave, the market will be inside from 8:00am to noon, so you can shop in the only air conditioned farmers market in the valley.  The Uptown market will remain inside Building B at the North Phoenix Baptist Church on Saturdays throughout the rest of the summer.

The Shishito peppers are now in season and bigger than before.  These peppers are my summer go to appetizer.  Easy and quick to sautéed or grill, they only need a little sprinkle of sea salt and are then ready to serve.  We will also have a large selection of those wonderful heirloom tomatoes and organic sweet corn that were a hit last week. Stop by the Uptown Wednesday market tomorrow to pick some up!

Tomorrow at the Uptown Saturday Farmers Market John’s Amish Country will have these wonderful Sungold Tomatoes.  I can not get enough of these during the season.  They have so much flavor, I end up eating them right from the bowl as a I am cooking dinner.  Sungolds are added to everything I cook, from a frittata or risotto to salads and pastas, because they bring so much to a dish.

John’s Amish will also have a selection of our wonderful heirloom tomatoes that come in a variety of colors.  They have such a great flavor and beautiful color all the way through, they put any others to shame.  John will also be bringing our organic, non-GMO, sweet corn.  This corn only needs a moment on the grill or in boiling water before serving.  We like to dress it up with a little balsamic, olive oil, mint and parmesan, but truthfully it doesn’t need anything.  Get to Uptown early to pick up yours.

The best of summer is coming to the Uptown Wednesday Farmers Market tomorrow.  Heirloom tomatoes and organic sweet corn are in full harvest right now.  Both the tomatoes and corn are so fresh and flavorful you don’t have to do much to enjoy them.  Make sure to come to the market early, since both are pretty popular.  See you tomorrow at the market!

McClendon’s Select is still available on Saturdays!  We will not be back to the Scottsdale market until this fall, but until then you can find our produce at the Uptown Saturday markets.  Located at the North Phoenix Baptist Church off of Bethany Home Road and Central Avenue, John’s Amish Country carries our produce at this market all year long.  During the summer months the market is even moved indoors, which makes shopping more pleasant when you can be in air conditioning.

And, for a few more weeks, McClendon’s Select will continue to be at the Uptown Wednesday market. We will be there on Wednesdays through June 21st.

McClendon’s Select will have our last Scottsdale market of the season tomorrow. We will return to the Old Town Scottsdale Farmers’ Market this fall. Until then, you can find McClendon’s Select produce at the Uptown Farmers Market on the southeast corner of Bethany Home and Central Avenue at the North Phoenix Baptist Church.

The Uptown Saturday market will continue through the summer months indoors at the North Phoenix Baptist Church. John’s Amish Country will be selling McClendon’s Select produce on Saturdays all summer long, and you can enjoy shopping in the air conditioning every Saturday from 8:00am – 12:00pm.

McClendon’s Select has just two Saturday markets left at Old Town Scottsdale Farmers’ Market.  Our last Saturday of the season in Scottsdale will be on May 13th.  Come early tomorrow and pick up some of the the first of the season organic Gold and Green Zucchini.  We had some last night with our dinner and it was the perfect way to greet summer.  All you need is to thinly slice them and then dress with a little lemon juice, olive oil, sea salt and basil and you have a beautiful summer dish.  See you tomorrow at the market!

McClendon’s Select will be at the Old Town Farmers Market in Scottsdale tomorrow.  We have two Saturday markets left after tomorrow, with our last market in Scottsdale being on Saturday, May 13th.  We will post more details soon on our schedule at the Uptown Wednesday markets and for John’s Amish Country at the Saturday Uptown markets.  We look forward to seeing you tomorrow.
